A pair of White Tailed Eagles photographed at the hides used on the NaturesLens Ultimate Danube Wildlife Photography Holiday  Our location for this photographic holiday is different from standard tours to the Danube Delta! Instead of staying on a boat for the duration of this Danube Wildlife Photography Holiday, with no possibility to go out for a walk, our trip is based at a cosy & well-equipped 4 star hotel inside the nature reserve itself. This allows our group to stay in the middle of nature, without giving up on the the comfort & amenities that will make the trip comfortable! It gets better, our venue has 20 purpose built hides available for the use of all our group participants throughout the trip.

Reserve a place on the NaturesLens Ultimate Danube Wildlife Photography Holiday, with a deposit of only £300, balance due March 2015.

One of the beautiful aspect of this location is that people are free to discover & explore the environs at their own pace. One electric car is available for each room & some of these electric cars are equipped for photography. It’s also possible to walk around if you feel like having a relaxing walk.

Our venue has the accolade at the moment of being the best equipped place in Europe for nature photography holidays &, of course, birdwatching.

The location for our Danube Wildlife Photography Holiday hosts an incredible number of animal & plant species. Inside the 1000 hectares of the property it is possible to see, both day & night, a large variety of species, sometimes very rare ones.

Thanks to the professional guides, fluent in various languages including English, Spanish, French, German & Italian, it will be possible to discover exciting experiences everyday.

During April, spring comes quickly, carrying several surges of migrants: White Pelicans, Glossy Ibises, Marsh Sandpipers, Little Gulls, etc. This is the best time to take pictures of ducks: Garganeys, Gadwalls, Ferruginous Ducks, Red-crested Pochards are commonly seen in front of the hides. The Black Woodpecker is digging his hole & spring clearing his nest. The riverine woodland is full of songs of Blue Tits & Common Treecreepers, while the awash steppe gathers big flocks of Spoonbills, Caspian Terns, Black-winged Stilts, Ruffs & other waders. During the humid nights the amphibians are moving to ponds: Common Spadefoots, Fire-bellied Toads & Marsh Frogs are easily seen on the paths & in the garden of the hotel.

The top 10 interesting birds to observe & photograph during our visit will include Glossy Ibis, Garganey, Ferruginous Duck, Marsh Sandpiper, Ruff, White- tailed Eagle, Black Woodpecker, Grey-headed Woodpecker, Penduline Tit, Bearded Reedling.

During the day it is easy to observe Golden Jackals & Eurasian Otters, to see huge varieties of aquatic plants & rare wild orchids as well as, especially in dedicated observation points, large numbers of dragonflies & damselflies. At night, aboard the 4×4 vehicles, you will hear the endless calls of Tree Frogs & Toads, you will be able see various nocturnal insects including many moths, & with a bit of luck we might even see the Wildcat, which is quite numerous inside the property. The reserve is also home to mighty wild horses with one of only three wild populations in Europe.

We recommend that you dress up warmly for early morning starts – it can get quite cold sitting in the hide in the early hours. Wearing layers is advisable so that they may be shed at a later stage where necessary.

For our boat trips, non-slip waterproof boots or wellington boots are recommended. As with most boats water can slosh through the scuppers if the boat rolls so sandals or light pumps can get wet and spoil your enjoyment.

  •  Thermal clothing.
  •  Thermal socks.
  •  Non slip waterproof boots or wellington boots (no cleats or studs please).

  •  Monopod or tripod.
  • Remote shutter release.
  • Spare memory cards.
