Great Grey Owl Photography in Evening Light Photography Workshop
The NaturesLens Great Grey Owl Photography in Evening Light Photography Workshop will take place during the evening prior to our main September Welsh Birds of Prey Photography Workshop. It is our intention for this workshop to focus on an extended session with a beautiful Great Grey Owl, an owl which is always a favourite subject on our owl workshops. The emphasis will be on achieving some really special, high quality images in gorgeous evening light. The Great Grey Owl or Great Gray Owl is a very large owl, documented as the world’s largest species of owl by length. It is distributed across the Northern Hemisphere.
The 2 – 2½ hour workshop will begin with us photographing this striking owl on some perches & old posts. For the next part of the workshop, we will relocate to some nearby woodland & photograph our subject in it’s natural habitat, including hopefully the elusive peeking round the tree shot. Staying on or on the edges of the woodland, we will try for some flight shots. These can be challenging but generally work brilliantly, affording attendees some amazing shots which show off the wing span of the bird. At this point the Great Grey Owl will be fed, allowing for some great shots of the bird feeding, but you have to be quick!
This NaturesLens Great Grey Owl Photography Workshop will start reasonably late in the afternoon, with the aim of shooting in pleasant early evening light as opposed to the harsher light of the afternoon.
Please note: should the bird not be available, we will substitute in either a barn owl or a little owl & make use of farm buildings & abandoned machinery instead of the woodland locations.[/su_tab] [/su_tabs]
