We have doubled the hide sessions for the Slovenian Bear Photography Holiday that is to be held during September 2017 – this means instead of 4 sessions, there are now 8 – 4 of the mornings now have a session of bear photography included as well.
If in 2017, you would like to capture some images of the European Brown Bear, specifically to undertake some Slovenian Bear photography, we have been able to reduce the prices of our Slovenian Bear Photography Holidays, the trip in May tumbles from £1599 to £1399, whilst the September date sees an even larger reduction to £1249.
The first Slovenian bear photography trip in May is to be led by Sean Weekly; this photography holiday runs for the dates of May 20th – May 25th 2017, the second trip, over the dates of September 2nd – September 7th 2018 is lead by Kevin Morgans, 2017 will be the second year of our visits to the Slovenian forests & will see an upgraded set of hides which have also increased in number.
There are travel days either side of the trip, but as a minimum you can expect to experience 4 days, in which you will spend the early morings & late afternoons in the Slovenian bear photography hides, hopefully taking advantage of various European Brown Bear photography opportunities – you will also have the opportunities for usig the bird hide in the guest house’s gardens, to seek out the rare Ural Owl, to vist some local landscape photography spots or to head deep underground into some amazing underground caves that were used in prehistoric times by the forefathers of the bears of the area.
Lunch, dinner, bed & breakfast accommodation & transportation within Slovenia is included. Accommodation is in a comfortable family run guest house, owned by the proprietor of the bear hides, who has a wealth of knowledge & enthusiasm to share with our clients – we don’t have single supplements & we don’t have shared rooms for this trip, it’s on a non-shared room basis (like almost all of our trips).
Following on from our successful photography holiday in September 2016, we are pleased to offer a pair of wildlife photography holidays to Slovenia to photograph the European Brown Bears, the first in May 2017 is focussed on the adult Slovenian Bear &, hopefully, their cubs, the second in September 2017 is to capture images of the Slovenian Bears & their yearling cubs, how will be more bold than those encountered during the May trip.
We have included below a selection of the images that we captured during the photography workshop conducted during September 2016 – unlike the trip to photograph the Bears of Finland, both the Slovenian Bears & Cubs Photography Holiday, & the Slovenian Bears Photography Holiday do not require you to spend overnight in the hides, you exit the hides when the light has gone, return to the hotel, have a warming evening meal & sleep in the comfort of your bedroom
JOIN NATURESLENS TO PHOTOGRAPH THE SLOVENIAN BEARS & CUBS FOR YOURSELF
Slovenia is an increasingly important location for the European Brown Bear & their survival as a top-level predator within Europe & it is easy to see why. The lush forests provide the ideal habitat free from being hunted for the European Brown Bear to thrive & survive, our 5 day photography workshop in the midst the territory of these impressive animals provides an abundance of opportunities.
We have two opportunities for you to photograph the amazing Slovenian Bears, both costing £1599 exc travel to Slovenia itself – all transportation within Slovenia, breakfast, lunch & dinner, accommodation & guidance/tuition from Sean Weekly is included, the date for the Slovenian Bears & Cubs Photography Holiday is May 20 – 25, 2017, whilst that for the Slovenian Bears, who will hopefully be bringing their older & bolder cubs to the hides, is set for September 2 – 7, 2017.
To hold a place on either trip, we only require a 25% deposit from you, £400, with the balance due 12 weeks prior to the trip taking place.
Please be aware, you will require lenses that let in the maximum amount of light – largest aperture or smallest f-stop – & a camera with which you are comfortable capturing images at a high ISO – the action is not fast-paced, so rapid FPS is not a deciding factor for equipment suitable for this trip.
Slovenian Bear Photography Holiday
This 5 day trip offers enthusiastic wildlife photographers an incredible opportunity to get up close to the magnificent Slovenian brown bear, capturing it on camera with the Slovenian forest wilderness as the perfect backdrop.
Accompanied by, Kevin Morgans, one of the NaturesLens photography leaders, you will spend afternoons & evenings photographing the bears from within comfortable hides deep within the forest, which are exclusive to your group. Witness this beautiful solitary animal as it roams the fir & beech woodlands, tracking prey across the land that this species has called home for centuries.
The forests of southern Slovenia, intertwining with hills, valleys & quaint local villages, offer the perfect setting for photographing the magnificent Ursos Arctos; the Brown Bear, in its natural habitat. These elusive creatures were in decline at the beginning of the 20th century, with fears that they were on the brink of extinction. However, the population has recovered & it is estimated that between 400 & 700 bears now thrive in the region.
NaturesLens have designed a unique photography experience, inviting guests to spend 5 days photographing the incredible brown bear within magnificent wilderness native to the Slovenian mountains, with the bears’ stunning natural habitat providing the perfect backdrop for taking beautiful editorial quality photographs.
Our trip provides an unrivalled opportunity to experience the Slovenian bear as they roam fir & beech forests, tracking prey, tracing the paths this species have walked for centuries. The powerful brown bear is an age-old icon of the region, respected & avoided by locals, left in peace to rule the wilderness.
This trip also offers access to a complex network of specialised photography arenas, encompassing hides & hunting tracks. Your guide will be familiar with the region & the species, therefore able to help you make the most of this stunning natural landscape & the opportunity to come face-to-face with these magnificent predators, capturing raw images to cherish for years to come.
Morning schedules are kept flexible as the best time to photograph the bears comes in the afternoon & evening, giving you time to go over the previous day’s images or to enjoy what the surrounding area has to offer. Although the Slovenian bear is our target species, a variety of wildlife might pay a visit throughout the trip, such as foxes, jays, woodpeckers & sparrowhawks.
At around 3pm you will be taken to the comfortable bear hides that are designed to blend into the surroundings, from which it is best to watch & photograph the Slovenian bears, until around 9pm when you will return to the hotel. Here you will experience warm Slovenian hospitality, delicious local food & comfortable surroundings, giving you time to relax, recuperate & reflect on the events of the day.
We at NaturesLens have created this trip to offer wildlife photography enthusiasts a unique opportunity to capture beautiful images of the majestic brown bear, carefully designing a schedule which removes the need to sleep in hides, ensuring comfortable nights and fulfilling days spent within the Slovenian wilderness.
We take care of every detail for you, including accommodation & internal travel, ensuring that all you have to worry about is capturing the perfect images on camera. Booking early is advised as our tours offer limited spaces.
