Peter sent us so many fabulous images from the boat trips taken during our Winter Wildlife of Japan Photography Holiday that we had to dedicate an entire blog post to them.
We try to do things a little differently from everybody else. For this reason, we offer six boat trips to photograph the magnificent Stellers & White Tailed Sea Eagles. This gives our guests plenty of opportunities to try for silhouettes, birds in flight, fishing & portraits on ice.
Look at the size of those talons!
These fantastic raptors can come so close to the boat that a mid-length telephoto lens works best for flexibility. In fact, you run the risk of being over-lensed even with a 100-400mm lens!
Quick tip: It's best to use a lens that you can handhold on the boat to compensate for motion at sea. While you can use a tripod, o tend to be more of a hindrance than a benefit – principally if the eagle flies over your head!
We started showcasing Peter's images with a red fox, so it seemed fitting to end a final fox image. Many thanks to Peter & his lovely wife An for being such great company & for sharing their pictures with us.
Photograph the Winter Wildlife of Japan for yourself
To photograph the charismatic winter wildlife of Japan for yourself, join David Miles & Ian Roberts, members of the NaturesLens guiding team, in Japan during February 2019 for a trip lasting 13 nights. This photography holiday will offer you the opportunity to capture images of the red-crowned crane, snow monkey, Steller's sea eagle, white-tailed sea eagle, whooper swan, plus more. The NaturesLens Winter Wildlife of Japan Photography Holiday is offered on half board, non-shared room basis, & costs £5249 per participant, but there are several early-bird places available priced at £4999.
Additionally, if you are a pair of travelling companions or a photography couple & do not mind sharing a twin-bed room, then you can book a pair of places for £4999 each – £9998 for both of you!
With both of these offers, you need to do nothing other than book. We will automatically apply the discount. You can hold a place with a deposit of £1000 – or the twin-share special offer with a deposit of £2000.
