This means you are not competing with other cars to get the shot & you can stay with your subject for as long as you want. The dam was one place where we could get out of the car to stretch our legs. It was also an excellent opportunity to walk out to the water’s edge & kneel in the sand to photograph the **hippos** & **crocodiles** at eye level. **Photo Tip:** your images will have more impact if you can make eye contact with your subject. You don’t even need a big lens. A 300mm is perfect for capturing the action although a 400mm would be useful if you like to get tight portrait images. I would say that the Canon EF 100-400 f/4.5-5.6L IS II USM would work particularly well at the Scavenger Hide.
