The NaturesLens **Zimanga Photo Tour** is a combination of **traditional game drives & hide sessions**. In part three of this series of Zimanga blog posts, we showcase Alan’s beautiful images taken during **game drives** & from the **Scavenger Hide**.

When you are on a game drive in Zimanga, you are in **one of only three vehicles** on the game reserve. This means you are not competing with other cars to get the shot & you can stay with your subject for as long as you want.

If your guide thinks it is safe to do so, you are allowed to get out of the Landcruiser to get some shots. The dam was one place where we could get out of the car to stretch our legs. It was also an excellent opportunity to walk out to the water’s edge & kneel in the sand to photograph the **hippos** & **crocodiles** at eye level. **Photo Tip:** your images will have more impact if you can make eye contact with your subject.

It was non-stop action at the **Scavenger Hide** from the moment the sun rose to the end of the session. **Hyena, eagles, vultures**, **pied crows** & **jackal** are all frequent visitors here. You don’t even need a big lens. A 300mm is perfect for capturing the action although a 400mm would be useful if you like to get tight portrait images. I would say that the Canon EF 100-400 f/4.5-5.6L IS II USM would work particularly well at the Scavenger Hide.
