Fair Isle sits at a geographic sweet spot for migration & seabirds, offering dense puffin colonies & the possibility of rare vagrant species in a single compact visit. The Cairngorms plateau provides one of Europe’s best opportunities for white-phase Mountain Hares in winter – animals in full winter coat against clean snow, photographed in morning light from open hillside. Red squirrel sessions at managed feeders in native pine forest give predictable, clean portrait conditions that suit photographers of all experience levels. Photographic Conditions Winter Mountain Hare trips work best January through March in snowfall years; patience & hill fitness are both required. Puffin & seabird sessions peak May through July & suit 300-500mm lenses for flight & nest shots. Otter work on the west coast is dawn-focused & requires mobile, reactive shooting at 400-600mm.
