2020 – Mashatu, Land of the Giants Photography Holiday

A pair of elephants photographed as the sun sets - photographed at the locations usxed for the NaturesLens Mashatu, Land of the Giants Photography Holiday
Mashatu is situated in the Tuli block area at the confines of the Shashe & Limpopo Rivers. Mashatu Game Reserve is an unheralded gem in a 35,000-hectare wilderness. Being an open, semi-arid area, game viewing is relatively unrestricted by shrub & trees. & what game viewing it is! Exceptional sightings of leopard, lion & cheetah herald the large cats.
Mashatu, “Land of Giants” takes its name from the locally-sacrosanct Mashatu tree & the giants that roam the terrain. As one of the largest private game reserve in southern Africa, Mashatu is, at 25,000 hectares, a fitting setting for the world’s largest mammal – the majestic elephant – with the largest herds on privately owned land on earth. Mashatu also provides sanctuary to the world’s tallest mammal – the giraffe; the world’s largest antelope – the eland; the world’s largest bird – the ostrich; & of course, the world’s heaviest flying bird – the kori bustard. Add the lion – the king of the beasts & the iconic baobab tree, & you have Africa’s Big Seven.
Join NaturesLens to capture images of the amazing wildlife of the Mashutu reserve, including the African elephant, the lion, giraffe, the eland, ostrich & the kori bustard, in Botswana, during the Mashatu, Land of the Giants photography holiday. This photography holiday is of 5 night/6 day duration on a Full Board, Shared basis & costs £4999 per participant.
This trip combines traditional game drives with hide sessions in the underground Matebole Hide & the Valley Hide.  The Matebole hide has been sunk into the ground, at a waterhole, in prime elephant habitat. The view from this hide is as though you are lying on your stomach looking upwards. Its location is situated along the main daily elephant migratory routes, making them frequent visitors to the hide. The valley hide is set in a far more arid environment, enclosed by ridges on either side. The valley system channels the elephants to walk right past the hide as they head to their feeding areas. As water is scarce in this region, the Valley hide is an almost essential drinking stop for elephants and other wildlife.
We will have access to 2 private vehicles at camp. One being the Mashatu private sole use vehicle & the other being the photomashatu vehicle which has been specially adapted for photographers. Designed specifically with photography in mind, it is equipped with sliding gimbal heads for comfortable, quick & well-supported photography in a 270-degree radius for each photographer & bean bag arches. Cushioned, dust & waterproof bag storage compartments allow for fast access to your lenses & other photographic equipment.
This extraordinary place possesses an ecological diversity uncommon in other reserves. Complementing three members of the Big Five – leopard, lion & elephant, are some of the more surprising species, including the aardwolf, bat-eared fox, African wild cat, honey badger & black-backed jackal.
Recently introduced to Mashatu – as part of the Northern Tuli Game Reserve – is the endangered wild dog.

Single Occupancy Rooms

There are a limited number of single occupancy rooms available for this photography holiday – the cost is £6499 per person – please mention when booking if you would like non-shared facilities.

Mashatu is also an ornithological paradise & plays host to more than 350 bird species, including the enchanting lilac-breasted roller, whose plumage features no fewer than seven different shades of blue. With a landscape broken by deep-lying riverbeds cutting through its rocky surface, Mashatu offers landscapes & scenery that tells of a time gone past & where giants used to roam.
Join NaturesLens on a 5 night/6 day photography experience without equal, based in the Mashatu Game reserve, in a lodge which features fantastic accommodation, this photography holiday includes 5 days packed with photographic opportunities in the Mashatu Game Reserve, Botswana.
The wildlife, paired with dramatic African landscapes ensures that there is no other setting & subject pairing for photography quite like this. Throughout the trip you will have abundant opportunities to capture in the environment & frame-filling images of african elephant, african wildcat, baboon, black-backed jackal, cheetah, duiker, eland, giraffe, impala, kudu, leopard, lion, mongoose, ostrich, spotted hyena, the kori bustard, vervet monkey plus more.
Pui Hang, co-founders of NaturesLens, will ensure that you are in an optimum position from which to capture both frame filling & wider images, highlighting the behaviour of the various species that you will encounter within the outstanding landscape which surrounds them.

2020 – Majestic Tigers of India Photography Holiday

One Of Bandhavgarh's Beautiful Bengal Tigers In The Cooling Water Of A Pool Photographed During The NaturesLens Tigers Of Bandhavgarh Photography Holiday
NaturesLens invites you to join Pui Hang & take the opportunity to journey into the heart of India, in the pursuit of capturing the elusive Indian tiger on camera as it thrives within a protected national park. Open to both amateur & semi-professional wildlife photographers, our trip has been designed to offer guests unrivalled opportunities to photograph these amazing big cats within the national park, whilst also looking out for other native species such as the Indian gaur & langur monkeys.
Refined, using personal experience gained through visits to the reserve, over the past 7 years, our trip includes full board accommodation, jeep fees, park fees & airport transfers to make things as straightforward for you as possible, to ensure that you can make the most of this fantastic wildlife photography experience.
Join NaturesLens to capture images of rich jungle dwelling wildlife, in India, during the Majestic Tigers of India photography holiday. This photography holiday is of 8 night/9 day duration on a Full Board, Non-Shared basis & costs £3399  £2999 per participant.
The majestic Indian tiger, a creature so magnificent & elusive, which has been suffering as a result of illegal poaching to the point of becoming an endangered species. NaturesLens invites you to experience these beautiful creatures first hand within a beautiful & mysterious Indian parkland, in a reserve famed for having the highest density of Tigers in India. The landscape offers dense jungle environments & open grassland intertwined with narrow tracks that you will navigate whilst capturing stunning images. You will encounter a range of other native species on the trip, such as leopards, Indian gaurs, langur monkeys & sloth bears as well as an array of beautifully colourful birds.
The park is located in a region of India steeped in complex history, with evidence of the political past of the area lying in ruins & monuments within the park. If you want to maximise your photographic opportunities, we can arrange a full day’s safari in private jeeps. Unlike the public, who are restricted to 3hr sessions in the park in the morning & afternoon, you will benefit from earlier entry & later exit, & an entire day within the park without having to leave, to ensure that you are able to make the most of tiger spotting opportunities at times when the park is quietest.
Many wildlife photography tours in these environments cram 3 or more people into one jeep, forcing individuals to lean over each other to take photographs, therefore compromising the quality of the images & the experience for individuals. However, we have ensured that only 2 guests travel in each jeep, giving you maximum freedom of movement to capture images from the optimum angle, as you experience the wonders of the park over the course of the day. Photography tuition will be provided as needed by Pui Hang, a NaturesLens leader, with knowledgeable wildlife guidance provided by a local expert.
Our guests are also housed in exquisite accommodation on a full board basis, providing you with comfort & excellent hospitality when you return from the game drives to relax, unwind, & look over your images. We have designed this tour to maximise time in the park spent spotting & capturing editorial quality photographs of tigers, whilst minimising travel time. With this in mind, airport transfers, jeep fees & park fees are also included in the cost of the tour, making things simple for you so that you can focus on making the most of your wildlife photography experience.
During these months, the parks have dried out. Temperatures will likely be above 30℃, & nudging towards 40℃. Meadows previously covered with lush grass have died back to expose landscapes covered in thick dusk, where water is scarce. Whilst it is tough, in our opinion, this is the best time of year time to visit, less foliage means the wildlife is more exposed, & little water allows our wonderful local guides & driver to predict tiger behaviour as they seek water out from the few remaining water sources in the reserve. For many, the landscapes don’t feel as picturesque, & drives can be uncomfortably hot.
Group size is limited, so book now to join us on this amazing adventure to come face to face with the majestic Indian tiger.
Photographable Species: asiatic jackal, bengal fox, black kite, black vulture, brown fish owl, crested serpent eagle, dhole, egyptian vulture, gaur, grey mongoose, indian roller, jungle cat, langur monkey, leopard, little egret, little grebe, red jungle fowl, rhesus macaque, sambar, sloth bear, spotted deer, striped hyena, tiger, wild pig

A solo Iberian lynx in the Sierra Morena region of Spain - photographed during the NaturesLens Wildcats Eagles Iberian Lynx of Spain Photography Holiday
NaturesLens invites wildlife photographers of amateur & semi-professional ability to join them in escaping to the beautiful Andalusian town of Adamuz in Sierra Morena. Adamuz is a thriving hub of native species. The various mammals & avian species that co-exist in the area is incredible.
This is the same location that we make use of during our spring trip, Eagles & Raptors of Spain, but at the time of year that this trip is being run, our target species are something altogether different! You will spend four nights, five packed-full days taking the opportunity to spend time in hides, in cars & on foot, hopefully enabling the capture of stunning images of wolf, ibex, golden eagle, imperial eagle, wildcat & of course, the Iberian Lynx.
Join NaturesLens to capture images of Iberian Lynx, Wildcat & both Golden & Imperial Eagle, in Spain, during the Wildcats, Eagles & the Iberian Lynx of Spain past event. This past event is of 4 night/5 day duration on a Half Board, Non-Shared basis & costs £1499  £1399 per participant.
It has taken years to habituate the lynx & wildcat to the presence of the hides & we are very excited to be able to offer you the opportunity to capture all the target species within their habitats & interacting with one another.
With a selection of comfortable hides throughout the area at our disposal, we will provide you with the best photography opportunities possible.
Small group sizes allow you to capture spectacular images from the best angles, with photography guidance provided by Victoria, the accompanying guide from NaturesLens where needed.
This leads to facilitating stunning shots from the car for the wolves & each of the photographic hides that you will have access to. From the majestic Imperial Eagle to the small, but ferocious, wildcat, you should leave with some amazing photographs & experiences. To give the best chance of capturing award-worthy images, we include three hide sessions with the lynx; the Iberian Lynx is a naturally shy animal, but these hide sessions are proving to be extremely productive.
NaturesLens provides a trip of 5 days duration packed with photographic opportunities, where your photography will benefit from unrivalled access to hides, placed strategically within the landscape to provide the optimum opportunity to photograph species such as golden eagle, imperial eagle, kestrel, lynx & wildcat. You may even spot other species at some of the hides, including red fox & Egyptian mongoose.
This is a unique opportunity to photograph some of Spain’s most impressive, yet elusive species.
Accommodation is provided on a full board basis – from a light breakfast through to a 3-course dinner with a picnic lunch in between. Everything is taken care of for you so that experiencing & photographing the species & their environment is all you need to worry about.
This trip suits keen photographers with a desire to experience the magnificent wildlife that this region of Spain has to offer; capturing editorial-quality images of a range of both mammal & bird species to treasure for years to come. Places are highly limited to ensure the best experience for every guest, so book early to avoid disappointment.

2019 – Glaciers, Whales, Eagles & Bears of Alaska Photography Holiday

Example of the Type of Image That You May Have Opportunities to Capture During the Natureslens Glaciers, Whales, Eagles & Bears of Alaska Photography Holiday
Southern Alaska boasts some of the most beautiful & dramatic scenery to be found in all of North America. This fabulous location is home to a diverse range of wildlife species, in the air, on the land & in the water, all these species thrive in the harsh, dramatic climate & the varied habitat that Alaska offers – this is the amazing setting for our Glaciers, Whales, Eagles & Bears of Alaska Photography Holiday.
Join NaturesLens on an amazing photography experience, based in the heart of Alaska’s mountainous south. This photography tour includes a week packed with photographic opportunities in the area surrounding Juneau, southern Alaska. You will have the opportunity to capture images of the impressive bald eagle as it feeds at a creek that sees these impressive raptors grabbing salmon from the water, to photograph bears as they fish for salmon, spend time capturing images of humpback whales &, hopefully, orca during 3 days on our exclusively charted boat that takes us far out into the channels that surround Juneau &, finally, spend time travelling to the glaciers & fjords that have carved the mountainous landscape.
Join NaturesLens to capture images of amazing wildlife of Southern Alaska, in United States, during the Glaciers, Whales, Eagles & Bears of Alaska photography holiday. This photography holiday is of 7 night/8 day duration on a Half Board, Non-Shared basis & costs £4499 per participant.
The wildlife, paired with dramatic snow-tipped mountains, salmon-filled creeks, glacier-fed water channels & more, ensures that there is no other setting & subject pairing for photography quite like this. Throughout the trip, you will have abundant opportunities to capture both “in the environment” & frame-filling images of bald eagle, black bear, brown bear, harbour seal, humpback whale, orca, sea lion.
You will spend 2 days cruising down the Tracy Arm Fjord to see Alaska’s greatest combination of mountains, waterfalls, wildlife, glaciers & icebergs. The ice in Tracy Arm interferes with the sonar of whales, so it is the perfect place for hundreds of harbour seals to have their pups in the summer months.
The face of Sawyer Glacier is a little over half a mile wide & is an active tidewater glacier, which means it “calves” or breaks off. Pieces of ice ranging from the size of a small car to a cruise ship can fall off the face of the glacier, hitting the water with a thunderous roar.
The water at the end of the fjord is nearly 600 feet deep & when an underwater calving takes place, the ice remains intact, creating Alaska’s largest icebergs. In other glacier areas, the calved ice generally crumbles but not here. Underwater calvings surface like giant submarines that rise over 250 feet & then settle into the water like large, blue ships! The icebergs are framed by sheer mountain peaks that reach over 7,000 feet.
You will also spend 3 days humpback whale watching in seas bordered by towering mountains with hanging glaciers as your backdrop. If you are lucky, you may also see sea lions, eagles & seals. Our exclusive chartered boat is skippered by the best captain in the Juneau area for whale watching. He will be in touch with all the other boats, so you have the most up to date locations of where the action is happening. With just 6 of us on the boat, there will be plenty of room to move around.
Pack Creek is the best place in Southern Alaska to see bears, during one day of the week, you will spend 5-6 hours exploring a half mile of beach & a meadow where Pack Creek emerges from the mountains & forest to meet the sea, photographing the bears as they hunt, fish & play. This day will start with a scenic flight by float plane to what is considered to be some of the most prime bear country on earth where dozens of salmon streams help maintain over 1,500 Alaskan brown bears.
The schedule for this trip has been designed to allow you to make the most of the photography opportunities available in the area. You will return with images of the bluest glaciers & the wildlife that lives on & adjacent to these towers of ice. Images of humpback whales &, hopefully, the transient orcas that feast on fish in the area; photographs of the bald eagles as they pounce on the salmon that swim in the cold waters of their creek & of course the bears as they attempt to fish for salmon in Pack Creek.
This is a photography holiday designed & led by photographers for photographers to ensure that every element of the experience enables you to achieve photographs that you will be proud to add to your portfolio.
Spaces are limited, so be sure to book early to avoid disappointment!

This trip includes full board accommodation, jeep fees, park fees & airport transfers to make things as straightforward for you as possible, to ensure that you can make the most of this fantastic wildlife photography experience, under the guidance of David & Pui Hang.
Join NaturesLens to capture images of bengal tigers & other rich jungle dwelling wildlife, in India, during the India’s Bengal Tigers of Bandhavgarh past event. This past event is of 9 night/10 day duration on a Full Board, Non-Shared basis & costs £3249 per participant.

Photography tuition will be provided as needed by David & Pui Hang, with knowledgeable wildlife guidance provided by a local expert.
Our jeep drivers & naturalists are amongst the most experienced in the reserve, David & Pui Hang have been working with these local experts for the past 8 years.
Our guests are housed in superb accommodation on a full board basis, providing you with comfort & excellent hospitality when you return from the game drives to relax, unwind, & look over your images.
After the heat & heavy rains of the monsoon season, the vegetation is lush & green & the landscapes are simply stunning, but there is a downside, the long grasses mean tiger spotting is more tricky. The striped body of the Bengal Tiger blends into the vegetation particularly well, & among those tall grasses they are hard to spot. This adds to the excitement for some, but it’s not for everyone. Safaris at this time can result in wonderful photos of the green pastures contrasting with the orange fur of the magnificent big cats if you manage to spot them.
Group size is limited, so book now to join us on this amazing adventure to come face to face with the majestic Indian tiger.
Photographable Species: asiatic jackal, bengal fox, black kite, black vulture, brown fish owl, crested serpent eagle, dhole, egyptian vulture, gaur, grey mongoose, indian roller, jungle cat, langur monkey, leopard, little egret, little grebe, red jungle fowl, rhesus macaque, sambar, sloth bear, spotted deer, striped hyena, tiger, wild pig

Photography tuition will be provided as needed by David, a NaturesLens leader, with knowledgeable wildlife guidance provided by a local expert.

An Oxpecker Sat On A The Neck Of A Giraffe Photographed During The NaturesLens African Wildlife Of Zimanga Photography Holiday
The African bushveld is a territory famed for its diverse range of wildlife, & the outstanding safari experience it can provide for wildlife photography enthusiasts. Join Pui Hang on an African wildlife experience, delving deep into sub-tropical bushland; photographing incredible native species from both jeep & specially designed hides which are embedded within the landscape.
This is a trip you’ll never forget, & will have you leaving with both stunning images & memories which you will treasure for a lifetime.
Join NaturesLens to capture images of diverse range of wildlife found within the Zimanga Game Reserve, in South Africa, during the African Wildlife of Zimanga photography holiday. This photography holiday is of 7 night/8 day duration on a Full Board, Shared basis & costs £3749 per participant.
NaturesLens invites amateur & semi-professional photographers on a wildlife adventure which will take you into the heart of African bushveld territory, photographing a wide range of native species including impressive predators; such as leopards, wild dogs & cheetahs, as well as magnificent elephants & over 400 bird species. The photography safaris & hide sessions all take place within a pristinely preserved wildlife reserve, which provides the animals with a protected habitat whilst allowing photographers to come & observe these animals thrive, & capture awe-inspiring images; photography guidance is provided by Pui Hang where needed.
This wildlife reserve offers 6000 hectares of unspoilt sub-tropical bushveld, fever tree forests & hilly terrain, providing you with opportunities to capture the best images of birds & wildlife alike from every possible angle. The reserve has a huge diversity of wildlife including mammals such as black-backed jackal, buffalo, cheetah, elephant, giraffe, hippo, impala, kudu, leopard, lion, nyala, rhino, spotted hyena, waterbuck, wild dog, wildebeest & zebra; & birds such as babbler, barbet, bee-eater, fire finch, fish eagle, hamerkop, kingfisher, lemon breasted canary, mousebird, plover, Rudd’s apalis, sandpiper, twinspot, vulture & waxbill. The animals live side by side in an almost self-contained ecosystem, with both predators & prey relying on this environment to survive. This is the first reserve of its kind; one which has been specifically designed for photographers, whilst allowing the animals to live as naturally as they would in the wild with some added protection.
Our trip offers you 5 traditional game viewing drives from open safari vehicles, with no more than 2 photographers per row to ensure maximum comfort & access to the best angles for photography. These are not limited to tracks, so off-roading will give you maximum photography opportunities. You will also have at your disposal a range of water-level hides, which are perfectly positioned to capture images of the animals at eye-level. These hides have been created with the photographer in mind, providing the optimum structure & positioning throughout the park.
One way glass means you will be invisible to the animals, enabling you to photograph their entirely natural behaviour within the reserve. You will also benefit from the solar-powered air conditioning & comfortable interiors within the hides; included to make your wildlife experience as comfortable & enjoyable as possible.
2 birdbath hides in the heart of the reserve offer you the opportunity to photograph the wide variety of bird species which inhabit the region, including the pink-throated twinspot, kingfishers, barbets & mousebirds to name a few. But that’s not all. These hides may also give you the opportunity to photograph other visiting species, such as warthog, banded mongoose & monkeys.
A final pair of hides is provided for overnight use which you will use one of each on two nights, providing you with a completely different experience of the reserve, observing a variety of species as they carry out their night time activities. The overnight hides are furnished with a kitchenette, flushing toilet, beds & wi-fi to ensure maximum comfort while gaining unrivalled exposure to the wildlife & their behaviours at night.
Accommodation & internal transport is included within the price of the trip & Pui Hang will provide photography tuition as needed.
This is a trip you will never forget. Book now to avoid disappointment!
