Wildlife photographers are invited to join us for this seven-night birds of the Danube Delta Photography holiday in Mila 23 & Macin Mountain in Romania. You will visit one of Europe's premier wetlands, home to more than 320 bird species, to capture images of the birdlife on & above the waters that make up the second-largest river delta in Europe.
This trip, scheduled for 24th - 31st May 2025, has an itinerary designed to enable you to photograph some of the birdlife we will find in this vitally important wetland, the Danube Delta biosphere reserve, including Bittern, Black Tern, Black-necked Grebe, Common Buzzard, Common Pochard, Cormorant, Dalmatian Pelican, Glossy Ibis, Great Cormorant, Little Bittern, Marsh Harrier, Night Heron, Purple Heron, Pygmy Cormorant, Red-necked Grebe, Squacco Heron, Whiskered Tern, White Pelican, White Stork.
The locations used throughout the birds of the Danube Delta Photography trip have been included to provide you with opportunities for capturing images of the wildlife & birdlife found in this area, one of the most bio-diverse places in Europe.
Throughout this seven-night bird photography holiday one of our photography guides will be on hand to guide & lead you; they will be providing assistance & advice as needed & helping you develop your skills & will help you capture images of the wildlife of this famed region.
About the Danube Delta
The Danube Delta is the second-largest river delta in Europe, located in Romania. Over the last 5,500 years, the Danube has slowly flowed into the Black Sea, creating the delta. The delta is made up of 41,000 hectares of wetlands, which is home to an amazing array of wildlife. It is one of the few remaining areas in Europe where the wildlife is completely untouched by humans. The Danube Delta is one of Romania's most important natural reserves. It is protected as a UNESCO World Heritage Site & a Ramsar site.
What birds are found in the Danube Delta?
The Danube Delta is one of the largest wetlands in Europe & is home to a wealth of wildlife, including various species of birds. Common birds spotted in the area include the Purple Heron, White Stork, Eurasian Teal, Red-footed Falcon, Black Tern, Marsh Harrier, Red-breasted Goose, Great Cormorant, & Common Pochard. Our guests may also be lucky enough to spot more elusive species, such as the Pygmy Cormorant, the Squacco Heron, the Ferruginous Duck, the White-tailed Eagle, & the Common Buzzard. The Danube Delta is an excellent destination for bird photography, offering a unique insight into the region's biodiverse variety of natural life.
