Our photographic holiday to capture images of the Leopards of Bera & Jawai is a very special encounter indeed. We will stay in the rocky region of Bera & Jawai in the centre of the Aravalli range, which is home to a small but important population of leopards; Bera & Jawai truly are the heart of leopard country.
Despite the fact that this is a short visit to the area, we will fit in ten safaris to take photographic opportunities with the leopards of the area, with only two photographers per jeep, you are assured of not being squeezed whilst capturing images of these elusive cats.
The Rabari villagers who live in this locale are, for the most part dairy cattle farmers & goat herders. They with their unmistakable clothing of white dress & red turbans tend to their livestock on similar slopes to those on where the Leopards live.

    Recommended Equipment

    Recommended Camera Equipment

For this photography holiday, we recommend that you bring along an intermediate telephoto lens such as the 100-400mm & a 500mm lens or the 200-400mm with built in extender. The combination of the 100-400mm & the 500mm will cover off close portrait shots as well as action shots. The 200-400mm with built in extender is perfect for this type of photography holiday thanks to its versatility. A wide angle would also be useful if you fancy capturing some environment shots or landscapes.

We recommend that you bring dust covers to protect your expensive lens from the dust whilst you are out on safari.

You might also wish to pack a monopod and/or beanbag to steady your camera while you are in the jeeps.

    Recommended Clothing

For this photography holiday, we recommend that you pack neutral coloured tops teamed with neutral coloured trousers. The early mornings & late afternoons can be cool so be sure to bring a warm fleece or two. The temperature in Bandhavgarh in December can range from 18 to 25 degrees celsius so you should bring a hat to protect your head from dust & possibly sunburn. If you own a bandana, bring this along too as it will be useful to protect your nose & mouth from dust.

Easy shoes are great for the hotel but you will need sensible shoes for when you are out & about.

Don't forget to pack your sunglasses, plenty of sunscreen & insect repellent!
