You are invited to join Jayne Bond & Ian Roberts, on a photography adventure to the harsh coastline of a German Island in the North Sea, home to a formidable population of seals. both Jayne & Ian will guide you throughout, assisting you in capturing stunning images of these impressive animals, whilst respecting their fragile natural habitat.
NaturesLens invites wildlife photographers on a 6 night long adventure to the harsh coastline of Düne & Helgoland, a pair of small islands in the North Sea, photographing the impressive seal population within this bleak weather beaten landscape.
At all times, Jayne & Ian will guide you during the photography activities & will be mindful of the seals, preventing any disturbance of the animals by keeping at a safe distance from both adults & pups, whilst using longer lenses to capture the best possible images.
The cost is £1499 per participant which includes return transport between Hamburg Airport & Cuxhaven, an overnight stay in Cuxhaven on a dinner, bed & breakfast basis, ferry costs to reach Helgoland from Cuxhaven, luggage costs on the ferry, 4 nights accommodation on Helgoland itself on a dinner, bed & breakfast basis, 4 crossings to Düne from Helgoland & an overnight stay in the Radisson Blu Hotel at Hamburg Airport on the final night of the trip.
Seals Of Helgoland Photography Holiday Availability
We recommend that you dress up warmly for early morning starts in a coastal environment – it can get quite cold walking around the island & the weather can change very quickly for the worse. Wearing layers is advisable so that they may be shed at a later stage where necessary.
- Waterproof (and windproof) coat.
- Warm trousers, preferably waterproof.
- Thermal clothing.
- Thermal socks.
- Non slip waterproof boots or wellington boots (no cleats or studs please).
- Waterproof cap or hat.
- Warm fleece.
- Water bottle or flask for tea & coffee.
- Travel sickness pills.
- Digital camera body.
- Lenses in the range 400mm – 500mm – we insist on this to minimise disturbance to the seals.
- Lenses with f2.8 – f4 will give the best light capture and speed of focussing.
- An alternative to long telephoto lenses is a tele-converter (e.g. 1.4x or 2x).
- Monopod or tripod.
- Remote shutter release.
- Spare memory cards.
- Spare battery.
- Battery charger.
- Lens cleaning cloth.
- Camera and lens waterproof cover.
- Laptop or another type of storage device – we will be shooting lots of images.
