Northern Fulmar at Fair Isle

Fair Isle, that remote outpost lying midway between Orkney and Shetland, offers a dramatic stage for photographing the Northern Fulmar against its towering sea cliffs and rugged sandstone stacks. Visiting in June on the Atlantic Puffins of Fair Isle holiday gives photographers the chance to work these coastal cliff faces, where the Fulmar can be found among the island's celebrated seabird scenery. The isolation of the island, forming Shetland's southernmost point, makes for a striking backdrop when composing shots of this species against the rock and sea beyond.
