Field notes

## Photography notes

**Best time**

Early morning during the wet season from October to March, when the birds are most active & vocal, offers the best opportunities for photography.

**Approach**

Use a long telephoto lens of at least 400mm to capture the bird without disturbing it in its dense forest habitat. Focus on the distinctive bill as the key compositional element, ensuring your shutter speed is high enough to freeze any movement in the low forest light. Visit with a local guide who knows the bird's regular perching spots to maximise your chances of a clean, unobstructed shot.
