This seven-night trip, scheduled for 6th - 13th July 2025, has an itinerary designed for of a wide variety of bird species found on the fantastic estate of El Taray, including Black Kite, Black-necked Grebe, Bonelli's Eagle, European Roller, Great Crested Grebe, Hoopoe, Lesser Kestrel, Little Egret, Little Owl, Marsh Harrier, Red Kite, Stone Curlew & more besides.

Throughout the duration of this photography holiday, Helen, one of our photography guides, will be on hand to guide & lead you, Helen will be providing assistance & advice as needed & helping you develop your skills. Helen will help you capture images of the wildlife of the estate whilst making use of the various hides on & around the estate.

We will fill the seven-night itinerary with as many hide sessions as we can, we guarantee you will have two fantastic hide sessions devoted to photographing the colony as well as the other hide sessions across the estate.

European Rollers

The European Roller is a sensational & distinctive bird with general brilliant blue feathers but having a rusty back & a hefty, crow-like beak; juvenile European Rollers have a muted overall plumage. The European Roller prefers open & semi-open countryside with scattered trees & wooded patches; The European Roller frequently feeds on larger insects, such as grasshoppers, with which they are often seen returning to the nest site during the breeding season.

Floating Hide Photography

The floating hides or blinds we use at El Taray are superb for low-level wildlife photography on the lagoon. You do not swim around, the depth of the lagoon is approximately 1 – 1.5 meters & you walk on the bottom of the lagoon.

Marsh Harriers in several locations

The marsh harriers of the estate of El Taray are birds of prey of the harrier subfamily. They are medium-sized raptors & the biggest & broadest-winged harriers. During the day & late afternoon, the marsh harriers can be seen hunting over the marshlands & dense reed-beds found near the lagoon of the estate.

All personal luggage are the responsibility of the owner & we request that photography holiday participants limit their luggage to the equivalent of one suitcase, one flight bag, one camera bag & tripod.
