Additionally, in some years, there have been opportunities to capture images of a [northern goshawk](https://natureslens.co.uk/photograph/northern-goshawk/) visiting the area covered by the photography hides.

## Wildlife Photography

### What eagles can I photograph during this trip?

Golden Eagles & White-tailed Eagles are regularly photographed from the specialist hides. In previous years, both species have been observed & photographed, sometimes clashing & fighting in front of the hides. As with all wildlife photography, sightings can never be guaranteed.

### What other wildlife can I expect to photograph?

Species regularly photographed include Golden Eagles, White-tailed Eagles, Northern Goshawk, Pine Grosbeak, Bohemian Waxwing, Siberian Jay, Siberian Tit, Red Fox, Eurasian Bullfinch, Arctic Redpoll & Common Redpoll. Red Foxes often patrol beneath eagle feeding areas, creating opportunities for predator-scavenging interactions. As with all wildlife photography, sightings can never be guaranteed.

## Photography Experience

### How much time do we spend photographing from the eagle hides?

This is a dedicated hide-based photography holiday with four all-day photography sessions from within the Golden Eagle hides. Photography runs from day 2 through day 5, maximising opportunities across changing light conditions throughout each day.

### How do the specialist Golden Eagle hides work?

The photographic hides are positioned to capture eagles both at ground level & in the sky. Ground-level positioning allows low-angle shots of eagles landing with wings fully extended. The four consecutive days from the same hides let you refine compositions as light conditions shift with lengthening days.

### Why is northern Sweden particularly good for eagle photography in winter?

Northern Sweden's snow-covered forests provide dramatic contrast as Golden Eagles soar against snow-patched landscapes. The transition from winter into early spring creates optimal conditions for eagle activity & photography. White-tailed Eagles dominate feeding stations while smaller raptors create dynamic multi-species interactions.

### What eagle behaviours can I photograph?

You can capture eagles in flight, soaring as they track prey, feeding interactions & resting within their forest habitats. The hides enable motion shots of birds in flight & territorial interactions. Feeding stations attract multiple species, creating opportunities for dynamic multi-species interactions & competitive behaviours.

## Group Experience

### What are the benefits of a 7-photographer group?

The 7-photographer limit ensures everyone has sufficient space within the specialist hides, receives personalised guidance from Conny Lundstrom & Robin Lowry & enjoys a more relaxed photographic experience. The small group maximises hide positioning opportunities for optimal eagle photography.

## Equipment

### What equipment should I bring?

Bring a camera suitable for winter conditions, telephoto lenses for eagle photography, spare batteries & memory cards. The hide-based photography allows use of longer focal lengths for detailed eagle shots. Detailed equipment recommendations will be provided before departure.

## Experience Level

### Do I need advanced photography skills?

No advanced skills are required. Conny Lundstrom & Robin Lowry provide experienced guidance suitable for photographers of all levels during the hide-based eagle photography sessions. The fixed hide positions allow comfortable shooting while learning eagle photography techniques.

## Seasonal Conditions

### What makes winter the ideal time for eagle photography?

Winter conditions in northern Sweden create optimal eagle photography opportunities. Snow-covered landscapes provide dramatic contrast for flight shots, eagles are more concentrated around feeding areas, & the transition into early spring increases activity levels. Cold conditions also bring species like Pine Grosbeaks & Bohemian Waxwings that add colour contrast against the monochrome forest.

## Photography Opportunities

### What types of eagle shots can I expect to capture?

The hide positioning enables low-angle shots of landing eagles with wings extended, flight photography against snow-covered forests & feeding behaviour interactions. Ground-level hides position you perfectly for dramatic eagle approaches. Multiple species interactions at feeding stations create dynamic behavioural photography opportunities.

## Winter Conditions

### How do the winter conditions affect the photography experience?

Sub-zero temperatures & snow create stunning photographic conditions with eagles standing out dramatically against white landscapes. The arctic winter climate provides excellent visibility & the snow-covered boreal forest creates a monochrome backdrop that highlights eagle movements & colours of species like Pine Grosbeaks.
