NaturesLens visits Abra Patricia Reserve on small-group wildlife photography holidays in Peru, with time here planned around Amethyst Woodstar, Andean Cock-of-the-Rock, Black-throated Mango, Blue-Necked Tanager and Chestnut-breasted Coronet rather than general sightseeing. Current itineraries using Abra Patricia Reserve include Peru’s Ultimate Hummingbirds, with photography shaped around flight, garden and close-up and night or low-light photography sessions. A high-elevation cloud forest reserve straddling the Amazonas-San Martín border on the eastern Andean slope, established by ECOAN & American Bird Conservancy to protect one of Peru’s richest bird areas. Long-whiskered Owlet, one of the world’s rarest & smallest owls, alongside Cinnamon Screech-Owl & over 300 recorded bird species across the reserve’s antpitta & feeder stations.
