Specific Location

# Maroantsetra

NaturesLens visits Maroantsetra on small-group wildlife photography holidays in Madagascar, with time here planned around Asities, Aye-aye, Baron’s mantella, Black & white ruffed lemur and Blue coua rather than general sightseeing. Current itineraries using Maroantsetra include Madagascar Wildlife & Rainforest, with photography shaped around boat-based, flight, garden and close-up and night or low-light photography sessions. A coastal town in northeastern Madagascar at the mouth of the Antainambalana River, the main gateway for boat access to Masoala & Nosy Mangabe. Madagascar Tomato Frog breeds in ponds & ditches in & around the town itself, while nearby Masoala rainforest holds Helmet Vanga, Bernier’s Vanga & Red Ruffed Lemur, making Maroantsetra both a destination in its own right & the departure point for the rainforest further along the coast.
