18 images of the amazing landscapes & wildlife of Alaska

A whale breaches from the icy waters outside of Juneau photographed during the Orcas Eagles Whales Glaciers of Alaska Photography Holiday

This is the one-holiday title that promises a lot – the native wildlife of Alaska, i.e. Bears, Eagles & Whales, plus Glaciers. But this trip delivered so much more! Based in Juneau, the aim was to find the Coastal Brown Bears in a specific wilderness area, & to track down the hump-backed whales migrating south before Winter. We also knew that there would be Bald Eagles almost everywhere, & we hoped that we might get sightings of resident or transient pods of orca. But the wildlife of Alaska is much more abundant.

One of the larger adult brown bears investigates a boat on the edge of one of the lakes image captured during the NaturesLens Majestic Brown Bears Cubs of Finland Photography Holiday

Jean & Kevin were guests on our Majestic Brown Bears & Cubs of Finland trip back in July. In this blog post, we showcase Jean’s images. I love seeing the photos that our guests send us at the end of a trip, but I was especially excited to see what Jean & Kevin would send in. They are both accomplished photographers & I couldn’t wait to “look through their eyes”.

A solitary male bear reflected beautifully in the lake image captured during the NaturesLens Majestic Brown Bears Cubs of Finland Photography Holiday 1

Dan was one of our guests on the recent NaturesLens Majestic Brown Bears & Cubs of Finland photography tour. For 2019, we changed the format & also moved from the location that we have used in previous years, to two new locations. Our guests spent time photographing large predators such as adult bears, wolverine & wolf at one location, before moving onto our next location for super cute bear cubs.  I think the change of location worked out very well. Just look at the stunning reflected bear photograph above, that Dan sent us.

The bear centre is home to some beautiful bird species such as the goldeneye. David was lucky enough to capture images of both the male & female & even a chick!

One Of The Large Bears Walks Alongside & Is Reflected Within The Lake Photographed By Johnny Södergård During The NaturesLens Wild Brown Bears Of Finland Photography Holiday

Our local bear expert, Johnny Södergård, led our 2018 trip to photograph the wild brown bears of Finland. Johnny is a familiar figure around the Finnish bear centres so our guests couldn’t have been in better hands. Furthermore, his lovely partner, Anna Wikén was also on hand to provide additional assistance. The hides are located around three ponds in a marsh area close to the Russian border. There are also hides in the forest, but due to the lack of light, we did not use these hides.
