We invite you to join us for 4 days & 4 nights, spending time immersed within the forested wilderness of Northern Norway, photographing native golden eagles & goshawks as they thrive in this wintery wonderland. Photography leaders will provide tuition on an as needed basis, assisting you in obtaining the best possible images.

Photographing these impressive birds within stunning forested & mountainous landscapes, you will have endless opportunities to capture motion shots of the birds in flight, soaring overhead as they track prey, feeding, & resting within their protected habitats. Alongside golden eagles & goshawks live a wide variety of additional bird species; such as the Siberian jay & the grey-headed woodpecker, which you will also have the opportunity to capture on camera.

The heavy snowfall we expect in this region in February only makes the scenery more dramatic, providing an incredible backdrop for wildlife photography. From the comfortable hides you will have exclusively at your disposal, you will have the chance to use both wide angle & close-up lenses, as the hides have been placed in locations from which it is favourable to capture goshawks & eagles both at ground level & in the sky.

You will spend full days in the hides, making the most of the changing light conditions throughout the day to take the most spectacular photographs. The hides offer heating & comfortable interiors, therefore protecting you from the icy conditions outside whilst ensuring that your photography experience is both lucrative & enjoyable.

This is a photography holiday like no other; designed & led by photographers for photographers to ensure that every element of the experience enables you to achieve photographs that you will be proud to add to your portfolio. Spaces are limited, so be sure to book early to avoid disappointment!

Announcing two New Exciting Bird Photography Holidays

A goshawk image captured from the hides used on the Golden Eagles & Goshawks In Winter Photography Holiday

Following on from our Bears of Finland Photography Holiday announcement of earlier this weekend, today we are spilling the beans on a further two new bird photography holidays for 2017 that should be packed with superb opportunities to add some stunning images to your portfolio.

Eagles & Raptors of Spain Photography Holiday

An image of a Bonelli's Eagle - typical of the images that may be captured during the Eagles & Raptors of Spain Photography Holiday

NaturesLens invites wildlife photographers of amateur & semi-professional ability to join them in escaping to the wilderness of the Sierra Morena, capturing stunning images of native eagle & raptor species. Observe these magnificent birds as they soar overhead, scouting out prey across the hills below.

Based in a rustic Spanish village, you will enjoy the unspoilt scenery & emblematic species which the region has to offer. Small group sizes ensure that you have optimum use of the hides, allowing you to capture spectacular images from the best angles, with photography guidance provided by NaturesLens leaders where needed. Spaces are therefore limited, so book early to avoid disappointment!

Full details of the Eagles & Raptors of Spain Photography Holiday are available here – response has been great so far & we only have two places remaining available.

This photography holiday is being led by Sean Weekly, one of the NaturesLens guiding team since 2016.

Ultimate Danube Wildlife Photography

A pair of White Tailed Eagles photographed at the hides used on the NaturesLens Ultimate Danube Wildlife Photography Holiday  Our location for this photographic holiday is different from standard tours to the Danube Delta! Instead of staying on a boat for the duration of this Danube Wildlife Photography Holiday, with no possibility to go out for a walk, our trip is based at a cosy & well-equipped 4 star hotel inside the nature reserve itself. This allows our group to stay in the middle of nature, without giving up on the the comfort & amenities that will make the trip comfortable! It gets better, our venue has 20 purpose built hides available for the use of all our group participants throughout the trip.

One of the beautiful aspect of this location is that people are free to discover & explore the environs at their own pace. One electric car is available for each room & some of these electric cars are equipped for photography. It’s also possible to walk around if you feel like having a relaxing walk.

Our venue has the accolade at the moment of being the best equipped place in Europe for nature photography holidays &, of course, birdwatching.

The location for our Danube Wildlife Photography Holiday hosts an incredible number of animal & plant species. Inside the 1000 hectares of the property it is possible to see, both day & night, a large variety of species, sometimes very rare ones.

Thanks to the professional guides, fluent in various languages including English, Spanish, French, German & Italian, it will be possible to discover exciting experiences everyday.

During April, spring comes quickly, carrying several surges of migrants: White Pelicans, Glossy Ibises, Marsh Sandpipers, Little Gulls, etc. This is the best time to take pictures of ducks: Garganeys, Gadwalls, Ferruginous Ducks, Red-crested Pochards are commonly seen in front of the hides. The Black Woodpecker is digging his hole & spring clearing his nest. The riverine woodland is full of songs of Blue Tits & Common Treecreepers, while the awash steppe gathers big flocks of Spoonbills, Caspian Terns, Black-winged Stilts, Ruffs & other waders. During the humid nights the amphibians are moving to ponds: Common Spadefoots, Fire-bellied Toads & Marsh Frogs are easily seen on the paths & in the garden of the hotel.

The top 10 interesting birds to observe & photograph during our visit will include Glossy Ibis, Garganey, Ferruginous Duck, Marsh Sandpiper, Ruff, White- tailed Eagle, Black Woodpecker, Grey-headed Woodpecker, Penduline Tit, Bearded Reedling.

During the day it is easy to observe Golden Jackals & Eurasian Otters, to see huge varieties of aquatic plants & rare wild orchids as well as, especially in dedicated observation points, large numbers of dragonflies & damselflies. At night, aboard the 4×4 vehicles, you will hear the endless calls of Tree Frogs & Toads, you will be able see various nocturnal insects including many moths, & with a bit of luck we might even see the Wildcat, which is quite numerous inside the property. The reserve is also home to mighty wild horses with one of only three wild populations in Europe.
