Earlier this year, Tony attended our Dalmatian Pelicans of Kerkini photography holiday. 2019 saw the return of snow & ice to the region so he faced some challenging weather conditions but thanks to our resourceful boatman, Tony came back with some stunning photos. He has very kindly sent in 12 beautiful images for us to share with you.
Jessica was a guest on one of the Dalmatian Pelicans of Greece Photography Workshops that we conducted in January 2018. Having run this tour for the past four years, the itinerary is now, in our opinion, the perfect experience. But it’s not what we think that matters, the view of our guests matters more.
Jessica said, “I had the pleasure to go to Greece in January 2018 to photograph the Dalmatian Pelicans of Greece & I thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. Not only were there plenty of opportunities to capture images of these big & charismatic birds in various conditions, but we also had a lot of fun with the group. Our guide Sean was always attentive & ready to answer our questions & give photography advice. The accommodation was ideal & the trip very well organised. Being able to photograph the pelicans very early in the morning & late in the afternoon added a special touch to the photos. I would certainly recommend going on this photography trip in Greece.” Continue reading →
Karen joined our Pelicans of Lake Kerkini trip in 2018, having missed out in 2017. She may not have gotten the snow, but she got some awesome light, coupled with fantastic opportunities for reflection shots.
With three boat trips & three shoreline feeds, there were plenty of opportunities to get some classic shots “in the bag” before trying some more creative photography. In the image below, the clean backdrop coupled with the glass like waters of Lake Kerkini make this image. Were it not for the slight ripples in the water; you could flip the picture upside down & be none the wiser! Our hotel is within walking distance of Lake Kerkini, making sunrise & sunset shots possible. The pink tones that Karen has captured in the photo below are glorious. I always enjoy seeing client photos. Everyone has a different eye, & it’s great to see so many diverse takes on the same subject as it can often inspire people to try a different type of shot. I hope Karen’s camera didn’t get wet as she got down low to get this shot! Look at the detail in the feathers, & the crazy hairdo. We choose to visit the Pelicans of Lake Kerkini in January as the birds are in their full winter plumage. The white feathers & bright red pouch makes them more attractive to photograph but also helps the pelican to attract a partner!

Richard joined our Pelicans of Lake Kerkini tour for the third time in as many years. One of the reasons he joined the trip was to capture a reflection of a Dalmatian Pelican in flight. He didn’t quite manage this in year one or year two, but as the saying goes, “third time lucky!” Continue reading →
Rosamund was one of our guests on the last of our three trips to photograph Lake Kerkini’s Pelicans in Greece. She wanted to capture some stunning reflection shots, and I think it would be fair to say that she succeeded! Take a look at the colours in the image below – gorgeous. Continue reading →
Steen enjoyed his first trip to the Pelicans of Lake Kerkini so much that he decided to join us again in 2018. Having attended the tour before, Steen had a list of images that he hoped to capture on his return trip. Continue reading →
