Pui Hang is leading several Iberian Lynx photography trips in 2026, based out of a lodge near Jaén in the Sierra Morena region of Andalucía. The trips run in both summer & winter, offering different photographic conditions & different looks to the lynx themselves.
The Iberian Lynx is one of Europe’s rarest predators. The Sierra Morena population has recovered well from its critical lows, but sightings still require patience, fieldcraft & well-positioned hides. That’s what these trips are built around.
Summer 2026 – June Trips
The June trips are available in 3-night or 7-night formats. Summer conditions give you longer daylight, active lynx behaviour & a green, lush backdrop to the Andalucían landscape. The 7-night option includes morning & afternoon hide sessions on days 2–7, each lasting at least four hours. That’s substantial time in the hides — enough to build familiarity with individual animals & their patterns.
The package covers full-board accommodation, transfers from Málaga-Costa del Sol Airport to the lodge, & all hide access. The hides are comfortable, with bathroom facilities inside, & accessible without difficult terrain.
Winter 2026 – November Trip
The November trip offers a different look. The lynx have thicker winter coats, the landscape takes on warmer tones, & the lower sun angle produces better directional light for much of the day. This 7-night trip includes twelve hide sessions across the week, giving you more time with the animals than the summer format. Pui Hang leads this trip as well, so the guiding standard & approach are consistent.
What Is The 7-Night Itinerary?
Day 1 is arrival & transfer from Málaga to the lodge near Jaén. Days 2–7 follow the same pattern: morning hide session, return to the lodge for lunch & a break, then afternoon hide session. Day 8 is the return transfer to Málaga airport.
About the Location
The Parque Natural de Sierra Morena is one of the Iberian Lynx’s stronghold territories. The landscape is a mix of dense Mediterranean scrub, cork oak woodland & rolling hills — good habitat for both the lynx & their primary prey, the European rabbit. The hides are positioned in areas with established lynx activity, which is why the sighting rates on these trips are consistently strong.
