Founder-led, run by photographers

David Miles & Pui Hang Miles founded NaturesLens in 2013. They design the itineraries for every NaturesLens trip and continue to guide the majority of departures. Their planning draws on time in the field, repeated visits and relationships with local specialists. Meet David and Pui Hang, and see the trips they lead.

Experience that shapes the next departure

Running a wildlife photography holiday involves more than finding a promising location. The timing of a visit, the position of a boat, the capacity of a hide & the distance between accommodation & wildlife all affect the photography. NaturesLens develops its established programmes through repeated visits & continuing relationships with local guides & accommodation providers. Our Japan programme combines winter photography in Hokkaido with mainland Japan. In Costa Rica, different itineraries offer a shorter introduction, a longer journey through several habitats or a seasonal focus on particular wildlife subjects. These programmes continue to evolve. The 2028 Wildlife Icons of Costa Rica departure, for example, moves later in the season to allow repeated photographic sessions with Agami Herons. The reason for the change is the wildlife & the photographic opportunity.

The people guiding your photography

Our guiding team includes David & Pui Hang Miles, Ian Roberts, Robin Lowry, Alison Jenkins & Johnny Sodergard. Individual biographies describe their backgrounds, interests & current trips. NaturesLens leaders work alongside local specialists where the itinerary calls for their knowledge. The trip page identifies the NaturesLens leader or leaders, so you can see who will be travelling with you rather than relying on a general promise of guidance.

Reputation through guest experience

Guest feedback offers a useful view of how those plans work in practice. Our client reviews include accounts of organisation, photographic guidance, time with subjects & the atmosphere within the group. Some reviewers describe returning several times. In his December 2025 Costa Rica review, Ian describes his fourth Costa Rica trip with NaturesLens & the way the programme had changed as local relationships developed. Other guests describe booking again after their first holiday. These are individual experiences, rather than a claimed repeat-booking percentage. Read the reviews in full, including the wider range of feedback on NaturesLens's independent Trustpilot profile, when deciding whether our approach suits you.

What to expect from a NaturesLens holiday

Most trips run as small groups, experienced photographic guidance & single occupancy included on virtually all trips. The exact group maximum & any rooming exception are stated on the individual trip page.

Our Why Travel With NaturesLens page explains how photography-first planning, small groups & a friendly atmosphere work together. Before booking, read the financial-protection information & the details of your chosen holiday.
