Diademed sifaka at Andasibe
Andasibe's mid-altitude rainforest, spread across the Analamazaotra, Mitsinjo and Maromizaha reserves, offers a reliable setting in which to encounter the diademed sifaka, sharing this humid forest belt with the far-carrying calls of the indri. Travelling on the Madagascar Wildlife & Rainforest holiday, photographers typically visit in November, when the forest canopy provides the backdrop for observing this striking lemur. The reserves' proximity to Antananarivo, just a few hours' journey away, makes this a practical yet rewarding stop for capturing the diademed sifaka in its rainforest surroundings. Patience among the humid understorey is rewarded with sightings of this distinctive species going about its life within Andasibe's protected forest.
