The Trustpilot Reviews of Our Wildlife Photography Holidays

Choosing a wildlife photography holiday is a leap of trust. You are committing time, money, energy, & often a once-a-year opportunity to a promise that the experience will deliver what it claims. The reviews on this page come from photographers who have travelled with NaturesLens across seasons, continents, & photographic specialisms, then taken the time to describe what actually happened once they were in the field. They reflect not just memorable wildlife encounters, but how those encounters were made possible through timing, access, pacing, guiding, & the quieter details that shape a successful photography-led trip.

What comes through consistently is not one single highlight, but a pattern. Thoughtful trip design, realistic expectations, small groups, strong local guides, & an environment where photographers are supported rather than rushed. Many reviews also touch on aspects that are easy to overlook until you experience them yourself, such as the value of single-occupancy accommodation, time to work a subject properly, or having a leader who understands when to push for an opportunity & when to step back. Taken together, these reviews are a record of how NaturesLens holidays work in practice, not just how they are described.

Hungarian wildlife in the winter

Excellent heated hides at eyelevel. Very much enjoyed watching the Kingfisher. It was the opportunity to get varied photographs of backlit subjects. Excellent views of visiting otters.

NaturesLens organized yet another fantastic adventure. Right from the airport pickup to the farewell, everything was flawless—transport, lodging, and meals all contributed to a smoothly run, bustling week dedicated to day and night wildlife photography. I just returned from a trip to Bence Mate's Farm in Hungary. The trip was fantastic. The hides were excellent, and it was a wonderful experience to be able to photograph different animals both day and night. Everything went perfectly. Many thanks to Natures Lens and especially to our guide, Pui Hang Miles.

Winter Wildlife of Hungary

I’ve just returned from a trip to Bence’s Farm in Hungary. From start to finish the trip was meticulously planned with nothing left to chance. I went on the trip to specifically learn about shooting at night utilising off camera lighting. The quality of the hides went way beyond my expectations and those coupled with coaching we were given ensured my aims were fully realised. Big thanks to Natures Lens and in particular to their tour leader Pui Hang Miles.

Hungary Winter Trip 2026

Another great trip run by NaturesLens. As always from the start at the airport to the end. Transportation, accommodation & food was perfect which helps during such a busy week of doing wildlife photography day & night. The instruction given by the tour leader ( Pui Hang ) were very helpful & the schedule was organised in a way that everyone could have a go twice at each session.

I enjoy the wide variety of birds

I enjoy the wide variety of birds. The excellent tuition meant that I have some lovely photographs of hummingbirds. The trip was geared for bird Photography in that we visited a variety of gardens with good backdrops and a wide variety of visiting birds. At long last I have managed to see and photograph the resplendent Quetzel.

Brilliant Costa Rica with NaturesLens

I spent a great part of November and December 2025 in Costa Rica with NaturesLens. It was my 4th trip to Costa Rica with them - does that tell you something? Each trip has been different as David's relationships with local guides and suppliers has evolved, making each trip better than its predecessor. Costa Rica's wildlife, especially its birds, is magnificent and NaturesLens has found so many locations where photographers can get the best images possible, and if one site is not active, David always has an alternative up his sleeve. Most are shot in natural light but there ...

Costa Rica

Did the Costa Rica trip in November/December. Excellent bird setups at every location, with thought given to backgrounds as well as perches. Flash sessions shooting frogs and snakes and a night walk with more frogs were highlights. Have booked more trips in 2026.

ULTIMATE COSTA RICA

I have just been on the ULTIMATE COSTA RICAN WILDLIFE PHOTOGRAPHY TOUR. A fantastic trip where we photographed every bird listed on the itinerary plus some rare ones not mentioned such as the male black crested coquette. There was also a great variety of reptiles and mammals. The tour was well managed, and there was always a contingency when we had some wet weather. Great food and accommodation.

Shompole - a new star in the photo universe

Shompole Wilderness is located in the South Rift Valley in Kenya, and what a place it is. The camp blends seamlessly into the landscape with each tent discretely sited. The tents are comfortable and well appointed and the local Maasai staff are friendly and attentive. But the star status comes from the hides. There are 2, located a short distance from the main camp, each with its own character. Both feature water holes and lighting and, with an open front, you won't get much closer to the wildlife than this. The lighting at night gives a stunning perspective to ...

Superb Serengeti with NaturesLens

Serengeti is an iconic name, regularly featured on TV. So what's different about the photographic holiday with NaturesLens. Firstly, it is located in the Lobo region of the Park with a high density of lions and a low density of safari vehicles. On the majority of our sightings over the week, ours was the only vehicle. This gave us the opportunity to just sit, observe and get to know the animals. Not only lions though; there were leopard, cheetah, buffalo, wildebeest and a variety of deer. The camp was so very welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble, the food ...

Shompole an experience not to be missed.

When I first saw the images taken by David and Pui Hang from their initial visit I was so impressed that I instantly booked to go to Shompole. I was not disappointed. What a great opportunity to photograph various species at night. The staff were very helpful and looked after us to a high standard.

The Company that just keeps on giving!

NaturesLens are a company that just keeps on giving! With 20+ of their trips having already been experienced over a number of years, their latest offering of six hide nights at Shompole Wilderness camp in Kenya was an instant winner for me! I love being at one with nature, and this photographic trip has it all. The opportunity to spend 16 hours or so every night in purpose built hides with the expectation of a multitude of different wild animals stopping by for a drink, is what dreams are made of! Lions, Leopards, Elephants, Civet, Mongoose, Jackal, Hyena, Zebra, ...

Shompole with NatureLens…

I thought David was an excellent photographic host, identifying and ensuring those who may need help in difficult photographic situations got what they needed to ensure they got photographs they wanted. David keeping an eye on the day to day running of the trip so we all benefited from the experience. Shompole provided some very close encounters with the local wildlife of which there was a great variety and there were many photographic opportunities to use up your card space. Enjoyable time but Africa always is.

NaturesLens have once again delivered…

NaturesLens have once again delivered the very best experience with a fantastic trip to the Maasai Mara. The trip was expertly led and organised by Pui Hang Miles who made every effort to ensure that everyone’s needs were met. The bush camp Tembo by Jackson was ideal, knowledgeable guides/drivers who found some wonderful sightings. Excellent food including the best soups and GF bread I have had for a long time. A great trip with great memories.

Superb Experience

This was my second time with Natureslens and like the first it did not disappoint. Shompole Wilderness was above my expectations, great variety of animals and expertly guided by Pui Hang. I would thoroughly recommend Natureslens and look forward to another adventure with them in the future.

Wonderful Trip…

I loved everything about the Shompole trip. The camp was beautiful, peaceful and quiet. Being gluten intollerant I am always a little concerned about food. But the food was wonderful and they went out of their way to accommodate. The wildlife was incredible. Night hide photography is tiring and I didn't sleep in the day. I would have therefore ideally liked a day in the middle in camp photographing the wildlife there and sleeping in my beautiful tent. Lovely experience, handled expertly by Pui.

A great ethical company

Natures lens are head and shoulders above other operators i have travelled with. They are accomplished photographers who go the extra mile to make sure every guest has an exceptional experience and obtain photographs to be proud of. They use only the best local guides who know the area and animal behaviour intimately. They are also committed to sustainable and ethical behavior. As a retired professional photographer my expectations are high and Natures lens have never failed to exceed them. I cannot rate them highly enough.

A highly recommended ethical operation.

I have now been on trips with Natures lens to 3 separate destinations. Earlier this year I joined their tiger safari to India and cannot praise them highly enough. They use only the very best guides who are knowledgeable about the area and the requirements of the guests. What impressed me the most was the fact that they managed to do this whilst respecting the animals and landscape - this sets them apart from many other operators. I returned from this trip with gallery worthy images that I simply could not have achieved without their guidance. I highly recommend ...

We are proud of these reviews, but we are equally aware of what they represent. Each one reflects a real trip, real conditions, real wildlife, & real people placing their trust in us. Wildlife photography is never guaranteed, but preparation, experience, local knowledge, & honest trip design dramatically improve the odds. That is where we focus our effort, year after year, trip after trip.

If you are reading these reviews while deciding whether a NaturesLens holiday is right for you, we encourage you to look for the themes rather than the superlatives. Consistency matters more than perfection. The feedback above is not about isolated moments, but about repeatable opportunity, considered pacing, & trips designed to help photographers come home with images they are genuinely proud of. That, ultimately, is what we set out to deliver.
