The Types of Wildlife Photography Trips We Run
Not all wildlife photography trips are built the same. At NaturesLens, the structure of a trip is just as important as the destination itself. How long you stay in one place, how often you return to subjects, & how travel time is managed all directly affect the images you come home with.
To reflect this, we design our trips around three distinct formats: wildlife photography tours, wildlife photography safaris, & wildlife photography holidays. Each offers a different balance of movement, depth, & photographic focus, allowing you to choose the style that best suits how you like to work in the field.
Wildlife Photography Tours
Wildlife photography tours are designed for photographers who want variety within a single journey. These trips move between multiple locations, often covering different habitats, regions, or ecosystems over the course of one itinerary.
Tours frequently span contrasting environments & take place in locations in Central America, Europe, or Asia, allowing photographers to work with a broad mix of subjects – from rainforest birds to mammals, landscapes, & environmental scenes.
Because tours cover multiple locations, they are particularly effective for photographers interested in photographing a wide range of species, including birds, mammals, & behaviour-driven moments that benefit from changing scenery & varied light.

Wildlife Photography Safaris
Wildlife photography safaris are typically based in Africa & focus on staying within one highly productive wildlife area. Rather than moving between locations, the emphasis is on repeat access to the same landscapes & subjects.
This format is ideally suited to photographing iconic African wildlife such as lions, elephants, leopards, & other mammals whose behaviour unfolds gradually over time. We also have some veery special holidays in Kenya for photographing wildlife after dark.
By remaining based in one ecosystem, photographers can return to favoured locations as light, weather, & animal movement evolve, often leading to more considered compositions & stronger behavioural images.

Wildlife Photography Holidays
Wildlife photography holidays are designed for photographers who value depth, time, & repeat access over constant movement. These trips are usually centred around one region or a small number of closely related locations.
This format works especially well for bird photography & behaviour-led work, including subjects such as birds, wetland species, or mammals that reward patience & familiarity with light, angles, & subject movement. Our single location holidays typically run in Canada, Chile, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, India, Poland, Scotland, Spain, Sweden, or United States
Wildlife photography holidays are guided by experienced photographers from the NaturesLens guiding team, offering calm, considered support in the field while allowing photographers the freedom to work at their own pace.

Choosing the Right Type of Trip
The right trip format depends on how you prefer to photograph. Some photographers enjoy the creative stimulus of new locations & changing scenery, while others benefit most from staying put & allowing wildlife behaviour to unfold naturally.
Across all trip types, NaturesLens focuses on small groups, thoughtful pacing, & experienced guidance, ensuring that time in the field is spent photographing rather than rushing between locations.
If you are unsure which format best suits your photography, exploring the individual trip types is the best place to start.
