In the country’s northern regions, such as Hokkaido, temperatures often drop to well below freezing, & snowfall can accumulate up to several feet deep.

Wintertime in Japan can have many charms, from seeing the numerous snow monkeys enjoying the season’s festivities to revelling in the sights of snow-covered landscapes. Most mountain areas have higher levels of precipitation & tend to have snow from November until April. The Japanese alps offer an exceptionally breathtaking sight, with many ski resorts & easy access for hikers to explore the Japanese Winter Wildlife.

Visitors can find a wide range of Japanese winter wildlife, from large mammals like deer to smaller creatures like foxes & various species of birds. All of these creatures & plants come together in a sense of balance, making Japan a special place to observe the forces of nature.

One of the most awe-inspiring sights is that of the native red-crowned crane, which can be found flocking around wetlands & marshes. Flocks of wild ducks can also be seen in greater abundance during the winter months. Among the many other animals you may encounter in Japan in the winter are sika deer, martens & hares.
