Specific Location

Mirkovo

NaturesLens visits Mirkovo on small-group wildlife photography holidays in Bulgaria, with time here planned around Adonis Blue, Chapman’s Blue, Common Blue, Eastern Festoon and Great Banded Grayling rather than general sightseeing. Current itineraries using Mirkovo include Bulgarian Butterfly Macro, with photography shaped around boat-based, flight and garden and close-up photography sessions. A village in the Sredna Gora hills east of Sofia, a landscape of rolling meadows & mixed woodland typical of the range’s mid-elevation butterfly country. Sredna Gora is a recognised stronghold for Clouded Apollo, Large Copper, Alcon Blue, Eros Blue, Purple & Freyer’s Purple Emperor & several fritillaries, found across the meadow & river-corridor habitat typical of the Mirkovo area.
