Jean & Kevin were guests on our imposing Brown Bears & Cubs of Finland trip back in July. In this blog post, we showcase Jean’s images. I love seeing the photos that our guests send us at the end of a trip, but I was especially excited to see what Jean & Kevin would send in. They are both accomplished photographers & I couldn’t wait to “look through their eyes”.

I must say that Jean’s photo of “Yogi” in the boat is one of the best photos I have ever seen come out of any of our Finland bears trip. It is unique, the composition is excellent & you can tell that there is a story behind the image.
Our trip to photograph Finland’s Bears & Cubs is one of those trips where a variety of lens is useful. For those of you who are interested, “Yogi” in the boat was captured using the Canon EOS R combined with the Canon RF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM lens.

We use the purpose-built 2-person professional photography hides for this tour. In these hides, each photographer can set up two cameras – one for wide-angle & another for tight portraits. Tripods are not required, but you should remember to pack your tripod head.

I thoroughly enjoyed looking through Jean’s eyes & loved the emotions her images evoked. She has a wonderful talent in capturing their personality as well as their behaviour.
They say that wildlife photography is 98% luck & I think it is fair to say that Jean is one lucky lady! Just look at this wonderful image that she got of the elusive wolf!

Jean said that “photographing bears in Finland was an rewarding experience. Just sitting in a hide overlooking the forest while the call of a raven or eagle echoed across the silence. & then suddenly, a bear comes into view. Just distinctive.”
Thanks to Jean for allowing us to share her fabulous images. We look forward to seeing you & Kevin again in October!
