Why Photograph Wildlife in Scotland Our Atlantic Puffins of Fair Isle trip is set on Fair Isle, Britain’s most remote inhabited island. Fair Isle sits at a geographic sweet spot for migration & seabirds, offering dense puffin colonies & the possibility of rare vagrant species in a single compact visit. The trip is timed for the puffin breeding season in June, with Arctic Terns, Razorbills, Guillemots, Fulmars & Great & Arctic Skuas alongside. Photographic Conditions Puffin & seabird sessions peak from May through July & suit 300-500mm lenses for flight & nest shots. Scottish light is famously dramatic, & soft cloud cover often produces better wildlife conditions than direct sun. Photography Themes Scotland offers outstanding opportunities for wildlife photography, with the chance to photograph species such as Atlantic Puffin, Golden Eagle, White-tailed Eagle, Red Deer, Harbour Seal, Common Guillemot, Razorbill, Black-legged Kittiwake, Northern Fulmar & Arctic Tern. These highlighted species represent only a small part of the wildlife found across the area, with many more species present depending on habitat, region & seasonal conditions.
