European Bee-eater at Cantalejo
Cantalejo, tucked into the farmland and limestone outcrops of Segovia province on the northern edge of the Iberian plateau, offers a fine setting for photographing European Bee-eaters against this varied Castilla y León landscape. Visiting Cantalejo in April, as part of the Birdlife of Northern Spain holiday, gives photographers the chance to work with these colourful birds as they move through the wooded hillsides and open ground typical of the area. The mix of terrain around the town provides plenty of natural perches and flight paths to frame the species against. As with all bee-eater photography, patience and a good eye for their favoured vantage points will serve you well here.
