Wood Stork at Florida

Florida's low-lying peninsula, threaded with freshwater marshes and cypress swamps, provides exactly the shallow, fish-rich waters that Wood Storks favour when hunting. Photographers joining the Florida Ospreys holiday in April stand a good chance of encountering these striking, bald-headed waders stalking the margins of these wetlands. The flat, open terrain of the marsh edges offers clear photographic angles, making it worthwhile to have a longer lens ready for both wading and flight shots. As with much of Florida's wetland wildlife, patience around the water's edge tends to be rewarded.
