Calima

NaturesLens visits Calima on small-group wildlife photography holidays in Colombia, with time here planned around Amethyst-throated Sunangel, Andean Cock-of-the-Rock, Baudó Guan, Bearded Helmetcrest and Beryl-spangled Tanager rather than general sightseeing. Current itineraries using Calima include Ultimate Birds of Colombia, with photography shaped around hide, flight, garden and close-up and landscape and behaviour photography sessions. An area around the Calima reservoir in Valle del Cauca, on the western Andean foothills near Cali, one of Colombia’s most bird-diverse regions. Ruby-topaz Hummingbird, Andean Emerald & Buff-tailed Coronet are among the regular hummingbirds at nearby feeder stations, together with tanagers & other cloud-forest species typical of the Tropical Andes biodiversity hotspot.
