Cauca Valley

NaturesLens visits Cauca Valley on small-group wildlife photography holidays in Colombia, with time here planned around Amethyst-throated Sunangel, Andean Cock-of-the-Rock, Baudó Guan, Bearded Helmetcrest and Beryl-spangled Tanager rather than general sightseeing. Current itineraries using Cauca Valley include Ultimate Birds of Colombia, with photography shaped around hide, flight, garden and close-up, night or low-light and landscape and behaviour photography sessions. The broad inter-Andean valley separating Colombia’s Western & Central mountain ranges, its dry forest remnants now mostly reduced to scattered patches within farmland. White-chested Swift, Greyish Piculet & Apical Flycatcher are near-endemic specialities of these dry forest fragments, found nowhere else in Colombia, alongside a range of tanagers & hummingbirds at the transition to surrounding Andean slopes.
