Photographic opportunities, at the locations found on this trip, should provide opportunities for capturing images of various species, including Arctic Redpoll, Bohemian Waxwing, Common Redpoll, Eurasian Bullfinch, Golden Eagle, Northern Goshawk, Pine Grosbeak, Red Fox, Siberian Jay, Siberian Tit, White-tailed Eagle & Willow Tit.

& more should be possible.

Photographing these impressive birds within stunning forested & mountainous landscapes allows you to capture motion shots of the birds in flight, soaring above as they track prey, feed, & rest within their protected habitats.

This workshop is for 5 night & will include four full days of photography. We will travel to Skellefteå, , on the first day & spend the following days photographing eagles in Sweden from specialist hides before departing back to the airport in Skellefteå on day six.

Throughout this 5 night photography holiday, Robin & Conny, a member of the NaturesLens guiding team, will be on hand to guide & lead you; Robin & Conny will provide assistance & advice as needed & help you develop your skills. Robin & Conny will help you capture images of the Eagles in Sweden with the impressive backdrop of northern Sweden’s snow-covered forests.

What types of eagles will be photographed during this photography holiday?

In previous years, Robin & Conny & our guests have been able to add photos of golden eagles & white-tailed Sea Eagles to their image portfolios; in 2023, the two species clashed & fought in front of the hides, which made for spectacular imagery. Additionally, in some years, there have been opportunities to capture images of a northern goshawk visiting the area covered by the photography hides.

Golden Eagles of the Swedish Winter Photography Holiday Itinerary

The following is the proposed itinerary for this photography holiday, it should be considered provisional & subject to change.

  • Day 1 - Assemble at Skellefteå Airport - transfer to a small village east of Skellefteå - overnight Skellefteå
  • Day 2 - Day 5 - All-day photography from within the Golden Eagle hides - overnight Skellefteå
  • Day 6 - transfer to Skellefteå Airport

Our guests were previously able to capture photos of both Golden Eagles & White-tailed Sea Eagles, but these were during separate visits. In 2023, however, there was a fierce fight between the two species in front of the hides, yielding some sensational photographs.

Other Wildlife that may be photographed during this photography holiday

It’s not just Golden or White-tailed Eagles; smaller birds such as Eurasian Bullfinches or Eurasian Jays visit the hide’s location, as do Red Foxes & Red Squirrels.

NaturesLens photography holidays do not include flights unless it is explicitly stated on the event page. When it is time to book your flights, we will send you the details in plenty of time to allow for bookings at the best available price.

The photography holiday itinerary is subject to change & is to be considered provisional.

Not all mentioned wildlife can be observed & photographed at all times of the year, thus some activities may be considered seasonal & not available.

Please note the cuisine on many of the NaturesLens photography holidays is authentic & typical of the region in which you are travelling. International or western cuisine is often NOT available. If you have any concerns over the food arrangements or have any special dietary requirements, please contact us prior to making a booking.

All personal luggage are the responsibility of the owner & we request that photography holiday participants limit their luggage to the equivalent of one suitcase, one flight bag, one camera bag & tripod. We do not wish to appear dictatorial in this matter & the request is made to ensure space & comfort for everyone in our vehicles.
