About this species
The Siberian Tit is a small, fluffy passerine bird found across boreal forests of northern Europe, Asia & North America. It has a brown cap, pale cheeks, a black bib & rusty-brown flanks, giving it a warm, muted appearance well-suited to its cold habitat. It is closely related to other tit species but is uniquely adapted to survive extreme Arctic & subarctic winters.
Boreal & subarctic coniferous forests, particularly spruce & pine taiga, as well as birch woodland across Scandinavia, Russia & northern North America

Photography notes
Winter months from November to February are ideal, as the birds visit feeders more frequently & snow-covered backgrounds provide attractive contrast. Early morning light offers the warmest tones & the birds tend to be most active shortly after dawn.
Approach slowly & use a long telephoto lens of at least 300mm to avoid disturbing the bird at close range. Offer sunflower seeds or suet near a known feeding site to attract the bird to a predictable location for frame-filling shots. Use a fast shutter speed of 1/800s or higher to freeze the bird's quick movements, especially when it is foraging among branches.
