About this species
The gray mouse lemur is one of the smallest primates in the world, measuring around 12-14 cm in body length with a long tail. It is found exclusively in Madagascar and is characterised by its large round eyes, small rounded ears, and greyish-brown fur. This nocturnal species feeds on insects, fruit & small vertebrates, and enters torpor during the dry season to conserve energy.
Dry deciduous forests, spiny thickets & secondary forest edges in Madagascar, where they shelter in tree hollows & dense vegetation during the day.

Photography notes
Nocturnal activity makes dusk & night-time the best period for photography, particularly during the wet season from October to April when they are most active & not in torpor.
Use a high ISO setting combined with a wide aperture lens to capture sharp images in low-light nocturnal conditions. Move slowly & avoid sudden movements to prevent startling these small, skittish animals. A red-filtered torch can help illuminate the subject without disturbing its natural behaviour as much as white light would.
