About this species
The Masoala sportive lemur is a small nocturnal primate endemic to the Masoala Peninsula in north-eastern Madagascar. It has large, reflective eyes adapted for low-light conditions, greyish-brown fur, and a compact body typical of sportive lemurs. Like other members of its genus, it is largely solitary and spends the day sleeping in tree hollows or dense vegetation.

Night-time hours are essential for observing active individuals, with the dry season between May & October offering more stable conditions & clearer skies in the Masoala region.
Use a red-filtered torch to locate the lemur at night without disturbing it, as their eyes reflect light well and make them easier to spot. Shoot with a wide aperture lens such as f/1.8 or f/2.8 combined with a high ISO to capture sharp images in low-light forest conditions. Move slowly & quietly when approaching a resting individual to avoid flushing it from its daytime roost.
