Best time

Early morning between 6am and 9am when birds are most active at feeding sites. The April 2028 Trinidad trip coincides with a productive period when flowering trees are in bloom, making sightings at forest edges & garden areas particularly reliable.

Approach

Position yourself near flowering trees or fruiting shrubs where Purple Honeycreepers regularly feed, as Trinidad's forest edges offer excellent opportunities during the April trip. Use a fast shutter speed of at least 1/1000s to freeze movement as these birds flit quickly between flowers & branches. In the bright tropical light of Trinidad, expose carefully to retain detail in the male's deep purple plumage, using exposure compensation to avoid overexposure.
