Dust is the primary equipment hazard: keep sensor changes to a minimum in the field, use a rocket blower & microfibre cloth, & store bodies & lenses in dustproof bags when not shooting. In bright midday light, watch for extreme highlight exposure on light-coloured skin – elephants in direct sun require active exposure management to retain texture in the lightest areas.
