Here is a quick look at what has been published since 19th April 2026, along with the newest pieces now sitting inside our guide & trip report collections.
New Trip Reports Collection
We have created a new NaturesLens Trip Reports page to bring together accounts from our photography holidays.
These reports are written after the trip, with a focus on what actually happened in the field: the wildlife encountered, the light, the weather, the hides or locations used, & the images the group came away with.
The first report in the collection is Trip Report – Northern Sweden’s Eagles in Winter. Robin led the March 2026 departure, working from hides in deep snow with golden eagles, White-tailed Eagles, Black Woodpecker, Green Woodpecker, nuthatches, bullfinches, jays & other boreal species.
The golden eagles gave the group extended sessions in front of the hides, including a memorable visit from both male & female birds together. Away from the eagles, the bullfinches & woodpeckers added colour & variety, while a Siberian jay brought an unexpected highlight to the week.
New Photography Guides Collection
We have also added a new NaturesLens Photography Guides page.
This collection is designed to gather practical destination & species advice in one place, covering subjects such as timing, access, lens choice, fieldcraft, behaviour & the conditions that make a location work well for photography.
The first guide in the collection is Photographing Puffins on Grímsey Island. The guide explains why Grímsey is such a strong location for Atlantic Puffin photography, especially because photographers can stay overnight on the island & work the colonies during the softer light of early morning & late evening.
It covers the main photographic opportunities on the island: close portraits, fish-carrying behaviour, burrow interactions, flight photography, wider cliff & seascape images, & the other seabirds that share the colony, including guillemots, razorbills, kittiwakes & Arctic terns.
Beyond Costa Rica – Birds of Peru, Colombia, Brazil & Trinidad
Our new article Beyond Costa Rica – the birds of Peru, Colombia, Brazil & Trinidad looks at what comes next for photographers who have enjoyed Costa Rica & want to explore tropical bird photography further.
The article compares four destinations, each with a different appeal. Colombia offers remarkable hummingbird variety & huge bird diversity. Trinidad combines the Asa Wright feeders, Oilbirds & the Scarlet Ibis spectacle at Caroni Swamp. Brazil gives photographers two very different rainforest experiences. Peru takes hummingbird photography into cloud forest & Amazonian habitats, with some truly special species.
Two Winter Eagle Photography Experiences
Two Winter Eagle Photography Experiences – Which One Suits You? compares our eagle trips in Hungary & Northern Sweden.
Hungary’s Hortobágy is described as the more immediate, reactive experience, with White-tailed Eagles & Eastern Imperial Eagles competing in open winter landscapes. Northern Sweden is more controlled & deliberate, built around Golden Eagles, snow, stillness & repeated opportunities from the hides.
The article is useful for anyone deciding which winter eagle trip better matches the kind of images they want to make.
Arctic Wildlife of Varanger
We published Join us for Arctic Wildlife of Varanger in 2027, introducing the redesigned Varanger tour.
The trip now includes three visits to Hornøya, dedicated time with Steller’s Eiders, King Eiders, Long-tailed Ducks & Purple Sandpipers, & two evenings in a specialist Mountain Hare hide. The article explains how the itinerary has been shaped around repeat visits, flexible timing & better opportunities for strong images.
Arctic Hares Under the Northern Night
Arctic Hares Under the Northern Night looks more closely at the hare hide included in the Varanger itinerary.
The main point is simple: one session gives you a chance, but two sessions give you time to improve. The first evening helps photographers understand the light, movement & behaviour. The second gives them the chance to anticipate action, refine compositions & come away with a stronger set of images.
The article covers wide, minimal images, boxing & leaping behaviour, snow, backlight & close details such as fur, ears & whiskers.
Yellowstone in Winter – One Place Remaining
We also published Yellowstone in Winter – Don’t Miss the Last Place.
This announces the final available place on our Winter Wildlife of Yellowstone Photography Tour, running from 23rd February to 4th March 2029.
The article sets out what the trip includes: Yellowstone’s interior by snow coach, the northern part of the park around Gardiner & the Lamar Valley, & chances to photograph bison, red foxes, coyotes, Trumpeter Swans, otters, bobcats, elk, moose, bighorn sheep, Bald Eagles, pine marten, stoat & wolves.
